The Act
Through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, the government has taken unprecedented steps to reinvigorate the economy while saving and creating more than 3.5 million jobs for the American workforce over the next two years. $150 billion will be invested in infrastructure alone to provide funding for our nation's bridges, roads and mass transit systems. Not since the Great Depression has the federal government taken steps of this magnitude to create Public Works projects in an effort to jumpstart our economy.

Buying American-made goods is an important aspect of reinvigorating the American economy. According to section 1605 of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, "none of the funds appropriated or otherwise made available by this Act may be used for a project for the construction, alteration, maintenance, or repair of a punic building or public work unless all of the iron, steel, and manufactured goods used in the project are produced in the United States."
